Subaru Outback AWD Sport XT and Outback AWD Touring XT – with the extra power, more torque, and increased acceleration of the 2.4-litre turbocharged Boxer engine – have an impressive 2,400kg* braked towing capacity. For those with a lighter load to tow and an eye on fuel efficiency, the 2.5-litre Boxer engine provides a 2,000kg* braked towing capacity.

This world-renowned preventative safety system operates like an ever-attentive second pair of eyes – to provide warnings, plus braking and steering intervention designed to help reduce driver burden, prevent accidents and save lives. The Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist system uses cameras and radar sensors – positioned at the front, side and rear of the vehicle – to support a host of primary functions and advanced intelligent features that help avoid potential collisions.
Autonomous Emergency Steering
To help avoid collisions, this function can assume automatic steering control to take evasive action in situations where it is safe and suitable space is available.
Speed Sign Recognition
The vehicle’s cameras recognise speed limit signs and display the speed limit on the Multi-Information Display, enabling the driver to easily recognise the speed limit – even if they’ve missed the road sign.

Blind Spot Monitor (BSM)

Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
Warns you when another car is approaching from the side whilst reversing – cutting-edge technology designed to help keep your family safe.
Distraction warning
Subaru DMS* recognises that at times the driver may be distracted, which is why a buzzer alert and visual display will warn the driver if their gaze continues to wander outside a set range.
Dozing or drowsiness warning
The DMS* uses near infrared LEDs and a camera to observe the driver’s eyes and recognise when their attention is waning or if they start to fall to sleep. An alert can warn them, and give a gentle reminder to refocus on the road ahead or take a break if necessary.
Facial recognition
The intelligent facial recognition system can identify up to five separate drivers and then automatically personalise the cabin to their preferences – adjusting a range of settings including the climate control and Multi-Information Display (MID) screen.

Watching out for you, this innovative system monitors the driver’s face for signs of fatigue or distraction and provides both audible and visual warning.
It’s also clever enough to recognise the faces of up to five registered drivers, automatically syncing each driver’s personal settings – including air con, seat position, and door mirror angles.

Subaru Global Platform
Safety starts with an improved chassis and a body frame reinforced to increase frontal, side and rear crash safety. Designated crumple zones are designed to direct impact energy away from the reinforced passenger safety cell, while SRS* airbags – including dual front, dual front side, dual curtain, driver’s knee, and front passenger seat cushion are designed to protect occupants. The Boxer engine sits low in the engine bay and is designed to help protect occupants by sliding below the cabin – not into it – in the event of a severe frontal collision.
